What is the difference between a 2-track and 3-track sliding window?
A 2-track window has two channels in the frame and two glass panels —
one slides left, one slides right. You can open half the window at
a time. A 3-track window has three channels and three panels — two
panels slide to one side and you can open two-thirds of the window.
3-track makes sense for wider openings above 5 feet where you want
more airflow. It is a slightly heavier and deeper frame than a 2-track.
Can sliding windows be fitted with a mosquito mesh?
Yes. A 4-track configuration has two glass panel tracks and two
separate tracks for sliding mesh panels. The mesh slides independently
so you can open the glass fully and slide the mesh across instead.
The mesh frame is anodised aluminium with fibreglass mesh — not
plastic. If you want mesh on a 2-track or 3-track window without
adding a 4th track, a fixed mesh on an exterior frame is possible
but less convenient to open and close.
How long does fabrication and installation take?
